About
UNIIQ is an early stage investment fund of 50 million euro that finances companies in the province of Zuid-Holland in what it calls the earliest and riskiest phase of their development. It was set up in 2016 by TU Delft, Erasmus MC, the University of Leiden and InnovationQuarter, the regional development company. Erasmus University joined in 2021 and the applied research organisation TNO in 2023, and InnovationQuarter acts as the fund manager. Its investment team is drawn from these partner institutions and it is partly financed by the European Union. Its money goes to research driven companies with complex technology, many of them growing out of knowledge institutions, in life sciences, deep technology and high technology industry. The instrument is a convertible loan, and the fund says its procedure is aimed at moving a company on to follow-up financing. Alongside the money it gives guidance on strategy and on making the technology attractive to later funders and scalable. Founders can book a free orientation meeting or submit a funding request through a form on its website. It works from offices in The Hague and Rotterdam.
