It is where somebody who has moved to Groningen can learn Dutch, from a free introduction course up to exam levels, in group, self-study or tailor-made form, in the city or online.
About
The University of Groningen Language Centre is a service unit of the university. Its main activity is teaching languages. It offers Dutch for non-native speakers and Dutch for native speakers, English, and Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish, taught in Groningen and online. Dutch is available at several levels, in group courses, in self-study with online sessions, and as tailor-made training, with exams at B1 and B2 level. There is a separate track for the university's own students, doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers, and free options including an introduction to Dutch and a beginners course. Alongside teaching, the centre runs a translation bureau, a writing centre, a testing unit, intercultural communication training, and a training route for people who want to become teachers of Dutch as a second language. It prepares candidates for the TOEFL and administers the official test, publishes a terminology database and hosts language cafes. Individuals sign up through a registration and payment procedure; teams and organisations can ask for a quotation.

- Courses are paid, with reduced rates on most group courses for people studying or working at the University of Groningen, the university medical centre or Hanze University of Applied Sciences.
