Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.
The neighbourhood teams are open to every resident of Assen, without charge and without an appointment, which makes them a practical first stop for someone new to the town with a question about money, a child's upbringing, or how things work in their district.
About
Vaart Welzijn is a local welfare organisation working only in the municipality of Assen, in Drenthe. Its main route in is the buurtteam, the neighbourhood team: residents who cannot solve a problem on their own can come to a team's walk-in hour in their own district, and the organisation states that the support it gives costs nothing. The subjects its staff name are health, money matters, growing up and parenting, paid and voluntary work, taking part in local life, and caring for a family member or neighbour. Alongside individual help, staff make concrete plans with residents to improve life in the street and the district. A standing activity is Meer Bewegen voor Ouderen, group sport for older residents at several locations in Assen, including aquagym, gymnastics, pilates, countryline and volleyball, with a free trial class. Residents on a low income can have the yearly membership fee for these activities paid by the Volwassenenfonds Sport en Cultuur, and the neighbourhood team submits that application for them. The office is at Apollopad 5 in Assen, with one telephone line for residents and a second for professionals.
