From the Flux Forward organisation register · Not edited on this site How we check this

Organisation records are published from the Flux Forward organisation register and shown here exactly as that register holds them. We do not research, write or edit them on this site, and a listing is not an endorsement or a sign that an organisation can help with your situation. Check the organisation's own website before acting.

More about where our information comes from

Free for newcomers and residents alike, with a helpdesk answering questions about life here in twenty languages, but it only works in the municipalities that have joined.

About

Welcome app is a platform, delivered as a mobile app with a web portal for organisations, meant to help newcomers take part in local life from their first day. It is run by a company in Amsterdam that describes itself as a social enterprise and grew out of an earlier foundation, which remains a shareholder watching over the social mission. The app is aimed at newcomers with a refugee background, and local residents can also make an account to answer questions, join an activity or organise one. Users can search and book activities near them, such as language lessons, sports, cycling lessons and cultural events, contact other users, read information pages about housing, work and daily life in the Netherlands, and put questions to a helpdesk that works in twenty languages. Welcome app does not organise the activities itself: local organisations, businesses and individuals publish them through a web portal. It works with municipalities, which can have the app introduced in their area, and it maps the local social services and initiatives for them.

What they offer

Good to know

  • It works only in the municipalities that have joined. In one that has not, there is nothing to see.
  • It does not organise the activities itself; local organisations and individuals publish them, so what is listed varies by place.
  • Its own pages state that it is not a place to look for work.
  • It is aimed at newcomers with a refugee background, which is narrower than newcomers in general.
