About
Welcome Center Food Valley is a foundation based on the Wageningen University and Research campus. It works on behalf of employers and knowledge institutions rather than for the general public: it coordinates and carries out the immigration process for highly skilled migrants, international researchers and their families, from the first application and extensions through to the formalities after arrival. Both the immigration service and the municipality of Wageningen keep a desk inside the centre. At the immigration desk biometric data are taken, residence permits are collected and in some cases a residence endorsement sticker is issued. At the municipal desk a worker can register and receive a citizen service number straight away, provided the centre has pre registered them with the municipality two weeks before arrival. Combining an immigration appointment with municipal registration is only possible for people renting in one of eight named municipalities; others are referred to their own town hall. After arrival the centre helps with the housing market, finding a school, Dutch language and local information, runs a career programme for accompanying partners and organises events. It also advises employers who want to become a recognised sponsor.
