About
Welzijn MensenWerk is a welfare organisation working in two Drenthe municipalities, Meppel and Westerveld. It describes its purpose as building a strong social base: neighbourhoods and villages where people look out for one another. It works with residents, clubs and associations, other organisations and the two municipal authorities. Its help is grouped into themes: meeting others and taking part, through activities in village halls and neighbourhood points; support in your own street or village; dealing with money; family life and parenting; work by and for young people; volunteering; and a general category for people who need a bit of extra support. Services named on its pages include social work, drop-in living rooms and coffee mornings, music gatherings, an Odensehuis for people with memory problems or early dementia, and community work by opbouwwerkers, the community workers who help residents organise their own activities. The organisation has offices at De Plataan in Meppel and De Veldkei in Havelte, and it publishes a mission statement, annual reports and a complaints procedure under a supervisory board.
